Job Summary:

As an L2/L3 Network & IT Systems Engineer, you will be a pivotal member of our team, responsible for managing and supporting enterprise-level network infrastructure. This role is instrumental in project execution, service delivery, and presales support, encompassing network design, implementation, commissioning, and advanced troubleshooting. You will work across a diverse IT landscape, including active/passive networking, server systems, surveillance systems, and cybersecurity solutions, ensuring robust and reliable IT operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Network & Infrastructure (L2/L3 Expertise)


  • Configuration & Commissioning:
    • Configure and commission a wide range of network devices, including Edge L2 switches, Distribution & Aggregation L3 switches, Core L3 switches, SAN switches, Routers, TOR (Top of Rack) switches, Wi-Fi routers, and Access Points (AP's).
    • Oversee end-to-end network commissioning and provide dedicated service support throughout project execution phases.
  • Configure and commission a wide range of network devices, including Edge L2 switches, Distribution & Aggregation L3 switches, Core L3 switches, SAN switches, Routers, TOR (Top of Rack) switches, Wi-Fi routers, and Access Points (AP's).

  • Troubleshooting & Optimization:
    • Diagnose and resolve complex network connectivity issues (e.g., L2 loops, VLAN mismatches, routing failures) with precision.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve protocol-related issues covering STP, DHCP, DNS, OSPF, and BGP.
    • Proactively identify and address LAN/WAN performance problems and downtime incidents, ensuring minimal disruption.
    • Implement and manage intricate VLANs, inter-VLAN routing, access lists, and static/dynamic routing configurations.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network connectivity issues (e.g., L2 loops, VLAN mismatches, routing failures) with precision.

  • Collaborate on planning and validating comprehensive passive infrastructure components, including:
    • Cat6 and OFC cables, patch panels, and LIUs.
    • Copper and fiber patch cords, and SFP modules.
    • Server racks and equipment mounting.

Network Management & Monitoring (NMS)

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain Network Management Software (NMS) solutions.
  • Configure essential monitoring parameters like SNMP, traps, syslog, and flow monitoring, and establish effective alerting rules to ensure proactive issue detection.
  • Maintain accurate and updated documentation for all device configurations, network topologies, and change logs.

IT System Support

  • Configuration & Setup:
    • Configure and set up various IT equipment including desktops, laptops, workstations, and physical/virtual servers.
    • Install and manage diverse Operating Systems such as Windows OS, Linux OS, and various Server OS versions.
    • Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs) within enterprise domain environments.
    • Perform installation, patching, and basic maintenance of server applications and storage systems (e.g., SAN, NAS).
  • Configure and set up various IT equipment including desktops, laptops, workstations, and physical/virtual servers.
  • Install and manage diverse Operating Systems such as Windows OS, Linux OS, and various Server OS versions.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Configure and support fundamental cybersecurity tools including endpoint protection platforms, firewall rules, and antivirus/anti-malware solutions.
  • Implement robust log collection and auditing procedures for comprehensive security monitoring.
  • Assist in the integration and support of firewalls, VPNs, and access control policies.
  • Coordinate with internal security teams or OEMs for advanced issue resolution and threat mitigation.

Surveillance & ELV System Commissioning

  • Provide expert support for the configuration and commissioning of CCTV systems (VMS/NVR), Access Control systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), and Integrated Command & Control Center (ICCC) Applications.
  • Ensure seamless and efficient integration of ELV systems into the network and control room infrastructure.

Telecom and Connectivity

  • Possess a strong understanding of and provide informed advice on various connectivity technologies, including MPLS, Leased Line, Broadband, RF, and VPN.
  • Assist in selecting optimal ISPs or connectivity methods tailored to specific project requirements.

Documentation & Asset Management

  • Maintain comprehensive and updated records in Excel or a central documentation system for:
    • Switch/router and other network device inventory.
    • Network topologies and VLAN schemas.
    • Serial numbers, licenses, and warranty/RMA status.

Customer & OEM Coordination

  • Efficiently log complaints with OEMs, track RMAs, and follow up relentlessly until successful resolution.
  • Coordinate planned downtimes, upgrades, and migrations with customers, minimizing business disruption.
  • Provide timely telephonic and remote support for urgent and critical issues.

Presales Support (L3 Specific)

  • Actively support the Presales team during the tender and bidding phases by:
    • Suggesting appropriate network components (L2/L3/Industrial switches, routers, APs) based on project needs and industry best practices.
    • Validating technical specifications, compliance sheets, and conducting thorough pricing comparisons.
    • Reviewing Bills of Quantity (BOQs) and network architecture for optimal fitment, scalability, and cost efficiency.
    • Assisting in preparing detailed network designs (HLD/LLD) and recommending suitable passive materials.
  • Suggesting appropriate network components (L2/L3/Industrial switches, routers, APs) based on project needs and industry best practices.
  • Validating technical specifications, compliance sheets, and conducting thorough pricing comparisons.
  • Reviewing Bills of Quantity (BOQs) and network architecture for optimal fitment, scalability, and cost efficiency.

Project Execution & Coordination

  • Provide L2/L3 escalation support to site engineers during implementation and ongoing support phases.
  • Conduct essential site visits (local/outstation) for surveys, commissioning, and handover activities.
  • Train end-users and client engineers effectively during project handover, ensuring smooth operational transition.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree /Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, or a closely related field.

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in network and IT systems engineering roles.
    • At least 2 years of experience at an L3 level, demonstrating proficiency in complex troubleshooting, design, and architecture.
